From 19 to 21 January 2026, Rome will host the RESTART Final Plenary Dissemination Event – ‘Shaping Horizons In Future Telecommunications’, the international event that brings together the most authoritative voices in the European telecommunications ecosystem.
Tiesse S.p.A., one of the founders of the RESTART Foundation, has been involved since the outset in defining and implementing this ambitious research and innovation initiative in the telecommunications sector.
As part of the RESTART programme, together with the Polytechnic University of Milan, the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Sassari, we have contributed to the Project LEGGERO.
LEGGERO has developed resilient, adaptive and energy-efficient digital infrastructures for next-generation networks, dedicated to mission-critical applications with stringent latency, availability and sustainability requirements, integrating smart networks with federated cloud-edge architectures.
From a network perspective, the project has introduced an open, standards-compliant SD-WAN architecture based on in-band telemetry and multi-agent reinforcement learning to autonomously manage traffic on heterogeneous links.
All the scientific and technological results of the Programme, including LEGGERO, are collected in the RESTART Book, the official publication that summarises the main results achieved by the research community and indicates the future trajectories of telecommunications in Europe.
